[ Jesse overpacked because he's constantly thinking of things he might do or might want and that might not align with how he feels once they get there, so he packs a little extra, but it's not an obnoxious amount. A suitcase he borrowed from his late Aunt Ginny and a backpack for carry-on, and he's all set. He grins when he hears Alexis' voice on the other end of the line. ]
Yeah, that's perfect. I'll chill outside.
[ He's got an old garden bench in his front yard that's perfect for awaiting company. He's dressed comfy for the plane ride, figuring he'll just ditch his hoodie once they land in the balmy, Florida air. He sets his backpack down next to him on the bench and lights a cigarette, pushing up the sleeves of his sweatshirt and keeping an eye out for an approaching vehicle. ]
[It doesn't take long for Alexis to get to him. She's vibrating with excitement the whole way. It's been a long time since she's taken a trip for herself. She's been too involved in work and getting herself established. This is the perfect chance to get away. The Uber pulls up in front of his house. She hops out and waves animatedly. He's dressed as he always is which fills her with an effervescent fondness. She gestures for the Uber drive to pop the trunk, so they can stash his bags with hers.]
I hope you're ready for some fun in the sun!
[She does a little twirl to show him her dress in full. Once he's got his bags stowed, she throws her arms around him for a kiss. She beams up at him.] I'm really glad we're doing this.
[ Jesse can't help the grin that spreads across his face when Alexis gets out of the car. He takes a last drag off his cigarette and drops it, pressing his foot down on top of the butt to make sure it's out. He really could use a vacation. Not that anything going wrong for him right now, but a couple of days off work would do him good. It gets kind of monotonous doing the same thing every day, spending such long hours at the lab beneath the industrial laundromat. Half the time he doesn't even get cell service down there.
Jesse grabs his luggage, putting his bags in the trunk and then giving Alexis a proper greeting, throwing his arms around her as he leans in for a kiss. ]
I'm so ready. I haven't been on a trip since I was a kid.
[ He can't think of anyone he'd want to go with more, either. Jesse gets into the car, sliding an arm around Alexis' shoulders once he hops in next to him and the. They're off to the airport. It's not a long ride and the airport isn't abnormally busy like it is around the holidays, so getting through security and checking their bags and everything doesn't take long. They make their way to the gate and Jesse checks his phone one last time before turning it off. He doesn't need any distractions the next couple days. ]
[She beams when she feels his arms wrap around her. Her lips linger against his, full of affection, before she pulls back. Her nose brushes against his. She wants to make this the best trip ever for him. With their luggage stashed, they get into the backseat to head to the airport. She stays snuggled at his side the whole way, chattering cheerfully of all the amazing things they're going to see and do. It's not until they're through security that she leads him to the first class lounge that she surprises him with what kind of seats they have on the plane. They've got some time before they have to board. Just enough for a quick drink in the lounge.]
It's only about a three and a half hour flight, but we should totally feel comfy the whole way!
[She takes a seat at the bar and orders herself a glass of champagne. She's in the mood for a celebratory drink.]
[ Jesse reaches for Alexis' arm when he sees her going towards the first-class lounge. He's about to warn her that he's pretty sure they can't just go in there, but then she shows their tickets to the person at the door and they're let in. Jesse swallows hard, giving the guy by the door a nod as he follows her inside. She's way more at home than he is here. He feels like he's in some kinda museum where he's not supposed to touch anything. It's kind of funny because, for the amount of money he has, he really should be more used to places like this. But, money never changed Jesse. He's still the same down-to-Earth kind of guy he'd always been. He still likes Funyuns and knock-off Pop Tarts and perusing the shelves of the Dollar Store for anything cool he might find. He lives like he'd never struck it big. Part of that, of course, is out of necessity. Without a way to really launder his money figured out, he can't just go around spending big bucks without someone (namely the IRS) becoming suspicious of him. ]
You got first-class tickets? That musta cost, like, an arm and a leg, yo.
[ He keeps his voice down as if talking too loud in here might earn him a glare. It's mostly stuffy business types and he kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. It's nice, though, and he's actually really appreciative. Jesse sets his backpack down at his feet and hops up on a barstool next to Alexis. ]
I'll have whatever she's havin'.
[ He turns the skinny champagne glass in his hand before downing half of it in one fell swoop. He's not the most graceful, but he'll learn. ]
This is...thanks for settin' this all up. I owe you one. Or, like, several.
[Alexis has never worried much about what people thought of her and the things she did or who she spent her time with. She's always done things proudly and unabashedly. It's how she gets away with things. She walks through life with confidence in really nice shoes. She doesn't mind one bit that Jesse prefers those things, but she also wants to treat him. She waves a hand dismissively at him for him not to worry about it.]
I used some points. And where we're staying in Miami is at no cost. My friend is letting me borrow their place, so really it's no big!
[She thanks the bartender with a nod when their champagne flutes arrive. She loves the bubbles in it. She can't resist grabbing her phone and doing a little boomerang for Instagram with their two champagne glasses. Pleased with herself, she grabs a glass and grins over at him when he finishes his off easily.]
Relax. No one is going to tell you you can't be here. You're here. Don't ever let anyone tell you can't have something. Just grab it by the hands and it's yours!

He's generally confident himself, but sometimes he feels awkward in new situations or around people he doesn't know. His shoulders start to sink as he becomes more relaxed, and he takes another sip of champagne, this time savoring it instead of trying to guzzle it down. ]

[ Jesse asks, raising his brows. A smirk slowly curls at one side of his mouth as he reaches for her hand and takes hold of it. ]
Pays to have friends in general. Real friends anyway.
[She's learned the difference. After the Rose family fall from grace, she'd lost so many friends. The people she used to travel and party with suddenly disappeared. She's learned real friendship, and it's been an eye opening lesson for her. It's helped her learn to read and understand people better too.
She would've missed out on Jesse entirely if she hadn't learned those lesson. She's glad when she sees him starting to relax. That's the kind of trip she wants for them. Relaxing. A giggle rings out when he takes her hand.]

[ Jesse had learned the hard way, too, that the people who'll gladly chill with you on a good day might run for the hills on one of your bad days. It's not that he'd really lost Skinny Pete and Badger as friends, but when he tried calling literally every number he knew the night he got kicked out of his house and had nowhere to go, suddenly nobody had room to spare. He couldn't even find a couch to crash on. Not even for one night. It had been like a knife in his gut because he'd always been the type of friend people could count on, especially when his friends were in a bind, so it had hurt to find out that the sentiment wasn't really reciprocated, even if most of his friends still lived at home or had other people they had to run 'unexpected company' by first.
But Jesse's not in that dire state anymore. His housing situation is stable and things are actually kind of looking up for once. The most positive point of that being him meeting Alexis, of course. ]
Do about it? I dunno. Maybe join the 'mile high club'?
[ Jesse says, a sly smirk on his face and a laugh following before he picks up his glass to finish off his champagne as he lets that little suggestion sink in. ]
[His sly smirk and suggestion draws a mischievous grin of her own. Her index finger idly traces around the rim of her champagne glass before she finishes it off. The bubbles makes her nose wrinkle a little, and it all goes straight to her head. Her other hand goes to his thigh, fingers brushing along the inside of it lightly.]
You know, first class bathrooms are bigger.
[Her tone is deceptively innocent. She even flutters her lashes at him. It's a vacation for both of them, but it's also a sex-cation in a way. There's something about being somewhere new and beautiful.]
[ Jesse lets out a slow breath, hiding any noise that might escape him with a well-times clearing of his throat as Alexis' fingers brush along the inside of his thigh. He reaches down to squeeze her hand gently, stilling it in the process. Not that he isn't into her touching him, but if she does much more than that he's gonna have to hold his backpack in front of him when he stands up. ]
Are they?
[ Jesse raises his brows, but there's a knowing smirk growing on his face. Yeah, they'll definitely have to make use of that bigger bathroom at some point. ]
Definitely. And no one will bother us. Part of the perks.
[She giggles when he stills her hand. She knows she's being a tease and making things difficult for him, but it's hard to resist. Leaning in, she brushes her lips along the corner of his mouth. It's a chaste touch, a playful contrast to what her fingers had just been doing.]
What do you wanna do first when we get there?
[She wants to make the most of this getaway. Jesse doesn't get to vacation much, so she wants to fulfill every little desire he has for this.]
[ Jesse grins. He can't help himself. That's half the fun of these kinds of romantic getaways, though, right? He lets out a laugh and then contains himself, going for a real answer this time. ]
I don't know, probably make myself a big, tropical drink with one a' them fancy umbrellas and go relax on some lounge chair on the beach, listen to the ocean and just chill out.
[ Relaxing is the other major component of vacation, at least in his mind. He doesn't get to do much of that, so any downtime is awesome in his book. He takes a look at his phone to check the time and then looks up at Alexis. ]
[She giggles at his flirtation. Leaning in, she brushes her lips against his as a little taste of what's to come. She's definitely got the same idea. She makes note of all the things he wants to do. Alexis is going to make sure that he does all of that. Pulling back, she checks the time. They're going to be announcing their boarding class soon. She finishes off her drink and sets it down.]
Soon. We'll be boarded first. Let's get going.
[She stands and bounces on her heels in excitement. Offering her hand, she tugs him along to the gate.] Adventure awaits!
[ Jesse grins, nodding. He has an almost child-like excitement to him. It's probably the fact that the last time he actually went on a vacation was when he was just a kid, with his folks. Probably before his younger brother jake was born. Family vacations slowed down after that, what with the age-gap and the additional financial pressure of having another kid. Then Jesse became a rebellious teenager and that was about the time the vacations stopped. They'd still sometimes go out with Jake on weekends, but Jesse was usually left to his own devices, at least until that began to get him into trouble.
Jesse tries not to think of all that now, though. This is a new opportunity, and he's definitely down with the company this time around. He looks from Alexis' hand up to her face and smiles as he grabs onto her, only to be tugged along to the gate. He almost trips over himself in their haste, but they arrive and show their IDs and boarding passes or whatever, getting ushered onto the plane. Their seats are roomy and comfortable, and they're greeted with another glass of champagne each to sip on while the rest of the passengers board. Jesse raises his eyebrows at Alexis. ]
I was always on the other side of the 'fuck you' curtain.
[ Jesse laughs as he gestures behind him, towards the curtains that the flight attendants close to separate business class from the coach seats once the flight reached altitude. ]
[She loves this excitement to him. It makes his eyes look so bright. His grin is incandescent. It makes her giggle and feel just as bubbly. Together, they go through the procedure of boarding the plane. They get to go first as they make their way to first class where there's certainly more room all around. An attendant helps them stow their carry on and offers their champagne.
She takes her glass and takes the aisle seat, letting him have the window to see everything. Alexis looks like she's in her zone as she sips her drink. Smiling at him, she enjoys his joy. They can hear the sound of other people boarding beyond the curtain.]
How does it feel?
[She likes the legroom. It's one of the things she'd definitely missed about flying when she'd been broke. She clinks her glass against his.]
We have better Wi-Fi access here too! And the meals are divine.
