I’m glad you’re keeping the heat off you. There are some truly reprehensible people who get involved in that shit, and you don’t need to get mixed up with those kind of assholes. Just keep doing you.
I’m happy that I enlisted. I’m in the best shape of my life because of the physical training and I’m learning all kinds of cool stuff. But sometimes it can be a bit much. The schedule and just realizing people are going to depend on me. I’m lucky that you’re here to take my mind off everything.
[ Jesse might not be the most savory of characters according to society, but that doesn't mean he's a bad person necessarily. Even being involved in the world of illegal drugs, he's always had a decent moral compass. He never sells to kids and makes it a habit to avoid selling to people who have never tried the stuff before. He doesn't want to be responsible for kick-starting someone's addiction, but if they're already on the stuff he figures they'll just get it somewhere else if not from him. He doesn't believe in violence and would rather run than get involved in a fight.
He isn't like most people involved in his line of work. Jesse has a good heart and a decent head on his shoulders. He just doesn't fit into the whole nine-to-five job scene. School's never been a strong-suit, either, and without much of a resume to speak of, his employment options are limited. He'd like to be an entrepreneur if he had a choice, but it's not easy to just start your own business without any tangible qualifications. ]

She had been guarded ever since so to have at least one person in her life she knew wouldn't bullshit her, even if the answer wasn't safe or pretty, was important. She just didn't always say these things because she never knew how to make them come out right. But she thought he understood.]
It's gonna be great. I'm finally feeling like I'm living up to my full potential instead of all that crap they taught us in school. Actually part of me wants to go back and flip off all those teachers who said I'd never be anything. [Laughs.] And I'm going to get to help people, which is important. But it's also scary, because I don't want to mess up if other people are depending on me.

[ Jesse knows how much it means to Guin that he makes himself available to her, and really it's his pleasure to do it. It's not a chore for him or anything. He knows, at least vaguely, what she'd been through with her ex-boyfriend and, even though the two of them aren't official or anything, he knows that he'd never do anything like that to her. He can't even imagine it, and he tries his best to show her that he's different than the people in her past. It's one of the reasons that he's always completely open and honest with her. He wants Guin to know that she can trust him, even when the truth is sometimes hard to expose. ]

[ Jesse laughs, half-joking. He knows there are reasons that they get along so well and he also knows that Guin sees him for him and doesn't particularly care that he's not some bigshot lawyer or doctor. She likes him for the person he is, and that means more to him than she could ever truly understand. He leans in to kiss her back and then groans a little as she pulls back. ]
I knoooow, it feels like it's taking forever. But you know that as soon as we start messing around it's gonna get here. It's like that whole watching a pot and it doesn't boil thing. As soon as we decide to get into somethin' instead of waiting, it'll get here. It's, like, scientifically proven.
[ No it's not, Jesse. But whatever. It makes her laugh anyway, hopefully. ]

Guin elects not to put her bra or underwear back on as she quickly dresses and then slips out of the room. By that point, she's not waiting long and then after one more trip up the elevator she's backing through the door with the pizza box in one hand and a bag containing the drinks and the breadsticks in the other.
Not one for caring about appearances, she brings everything to the bed before kicking off her shoes again. She doesn't want to make him get up if he doesn't want to and she can be extra careful not to get crumbs anywhere.]
Hopefully this is big enough but there's a fridge if we have leftovers. Just try not to drop any hot pizza on yourself.
[See she can make dorky comments too as she settles in to eat. She may be doing so a little faster than usual because of her slight impatience. While she doesn't mind whenever they get back to business, having Jesse naked in front of her is a definite distraction.]

Jesse hasn't been eating so well lately. More out of being so busy than being broke, though it's been for both reasons in the past. He hums around the mouthful, eyes rolling up. ]
